Nude Sunbathing Better for Vitamin D?

If you want to make more Vitamin D from the sun, which of the following situations is best? Clothed or nude? 

The answer is nude is the best way!

The mechanism of how vitamin D is made in the human body is interesting. When sunlight hits your skin it triggers the process to convert cholesterol in your blood to vitamin D3.

So by exposing your skin to more sunlight you trigger more vitamin D synthesis.

Why is vitamin D important? By some accounts, 42% of the US population is vitamin D deficient which has been linked to mood swings, depression, skin issues, and other chronic diseases.

You might have heard “experts” mention how you should spend 10-15 minutes in the sun each day.

However, if you are darker-skinned like me, you need to spend more time in the sun as darker-skinned people make less vitamin D than lighter-skinned folk.

So if you can’t get outside for 15 minutes a day naked, look at supplementing with vitamin D supplements getting 1000-4000 IU’s per day.
